Still Sound - a Collaborative Experiment
(scroll down the page for the Still Sound submissions)

Without accompanying explanation, a still image in exhibition tells a story through the viewer's lens.  Still Sound is a collaborative experiment, exploring what effect added audio has on the imagination and emotions of its audience.

Thanks to Arts Council England's support with a DYCP grant, I have been able to explore and experiment with my photography practice.  I am also using this funded time to make new connections and renew existing ones.  This Still Sound audio visual experiment has unearthed potential collaborators for future paid projects.

In early 2022, I called for submissions of audio clips; spoken word, ambient sound, music or music & voice (song) between 30 seconds and one minute to add to the photograph above.  This is an image presented with no title, no added context and no explanation.  In experiencing the image with the audio contributions, the audience will be able to share in the creators' interpretation of the narrative.  Also, by seeing and hearing the audio enhanced image, we will be able to see how different sounds influence our own perception of the scene in the photograph.
